GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
The RV Journal of Nursing Sciences (RVJNS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to publishing high-quality scholarly work in the field of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. Authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below while preparing and submitting manuscripts.
Types of Manuscripts Accepted
The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:
- Original Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Systematic Reviews
- Meta-analysis
- Case Reports/Case Studies
- Editorials
Submission Policy
Manuscripts submitted to RVJNS must be original and unpublished work. Submission of a manuscript implies that:
- The manuscript has not been published previously.
- It is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- It has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal.
- All authors have approved the submission.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and authenticity of the submitted work.
Editorial Screening and Plagiarism Check
All manuscripts submitted to RVJNS undergo an initial editorial screening to assess:
- Relevance to the journal scope
- Scientific quality
- Methodological soundness
- Ethical compliance
- Adherence to author guidelines
- Plagiarism and similarity index
Manuscripts with:
- inadequate originality,
- high similarity index,
- serious scientific or technical deficiencies,
- ethical concerns,
- or lack of significant contribution
may be rejected before proceeding for peer review.
The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the required publication standards or are not of sufficient interest to the readership of RVJNS.
Peer Review Process
RVJNS follows a double-blind peer review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Manuscripts considered suitable after editorial screening are sent to two or more independent expert reviewers for scientific evaluation.
Each manuscript is also assigned to a member of the editorial board who evaluates the reviewers’ comments and makes recommendations regarding:
- Acceptance
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Rejection
The final editorial decision rests with the Editor/Editorial Board.
Revision Process
Reviewer comments and editorial suggestions are communicated to the corresponding author.
If revisions are required, authors must:
- Submit a revised manuscript
- Provide a detailed point-by-point response to reviewer comments
The review and revision process may continue until the manuscript meets the standards of the reviewers and editorial board.
Authors are generally informed regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection within approximately three weeks from the date of submission.
Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
General Format
- Manuscript should be prepared in MS Word format
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size: 12
- Line spacing: 1.5
- Margin: 1 inch on all sides
- Pages should be numbered consecutively
Structure of Manuscript
Title Page
The title page should include:
- Full title of the manuscript
- Name(s) of author(s)
- Institutional affiliation(s)
- Designation
- Corresponding author details
- Email address and contact number
- ORCID iD (if available)
Abstract
A structured abstract of not more than 250 words should include:
- Background
- Objectives
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
Keywords
Provide 4–6 relevant keywords using standard indexing terms wherever possible.
Main Manuscript
For original research articles, the manuscript should preferably include:
- Introduction
- Need for the Study
- Objectives
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Recommendations
- Conflict of Interest
- Source of Funding
- Ethical Clearance
- References
Tables and Figures
- Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively.
- Each table/figure should have an appropriate title and legend.
- Avoid duplication of information in text and tables.
- Images should be of high resolution.
References
- Authors should follow the latest edition of Vancouver Style.
- References should be:
- Recent
- Relevant
- Properly cited in the text
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references.
Ethical Considerations
Studies involving human participants must include:
- Approval from Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC)
- Informed consent from participants
- Assurance of confidentiality and anonymity
Clinical trials and intervention studies should comply with national and international ethical standards.
Plagiarism:
RV Journal of Nursing Sciences is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity in accordance with the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), DOAJ and international scholarly publishing standards.
All manuscripts submitted to RVJNS are screened for plagiarism using standard plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin before the peer-review process.
Policy Guidelines
- Authors must submit only original and unpublished work.
- Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical content will be rejected immediately.
- Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources, including text, tables, figures, and ideas, are mandatory.
- Similarity index should generally be below 15% excluding references, quotations, and standard methodological descriptions.
Editorial Actions in Case of Plagiarism
Depending on the severity of plagiarism, the journal may:
- Request revision and resubmission
- Reject the manuscript
- Retract the published article
Author Responsibility
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the originality of the submitted manuscript and for obtaining permission for copyrighted materials used in the article.
